Topkapi Palace Half Day Tour

It is located on an area of 700,000 metre square including four courtyards, gardens, Hagia Eirene Church, Alay Square, hospital, bakery, Royal Mint, wood warehouse, Divan Square, Harem, the Royal Stables, Enderun Treasure, the Privy Room, Palace School, Mecidiye Pavilion and the Wardrobe Chamber.

Underground Cistern, also known as the Basilica Cistern due to the Basilica located on this area, was built by Byzantine Emperor Justinian I. It’s a huge underground building which can store nearly 100,000 tons of water.

The Cistern is famous for its 336 columns in Corinthian and Dorian styles and the Two Medusa Heads that reflects the art of the Roman period.
